Tasting Notes:
Vibrant yellow gold in color, with a sensuous and silky weave of acid and mineral on the palate. Flowered perfume of rose and passion fruit flow to silky red grapefruit on the finish.
Ratings:
"One of the few Finger Lakes’ Gewürztraminers to exhibit such spot-on varietal typicity, this is gorgeously aromatic with loads of honeysuckle, lychee, stone fruit and exotic spice notes. Off-dry, concentrated and bold on the palate, it’s balanced with just a touch of phenolic bitterness." - Anna Lee Iijima, Wine Enthusiast
Production Notes:
On October 15, 2011, 9.9 tons of Gewürztraminer was harvested and placed into a refrigerated truck for cooling. The fruit was cooled for 2 days, was de-stemmed, crushed, and then cold-soaked. The juice had a harvest chemistry of 22.2 Brix, a TA of 6.6 g/L, and a pH of 3.45. The fermentation continued for16 days and was stopped at 0.4% residual sugar.
Food Pairing:
A well-known partner to turkey, chicken, ham and scallops, it is also delectable as an aperitif with smoked oysters, fried calamari or bacon and mild Blue cheeses such as Gorgonzola or Maytag Blue.
